The Senate Finance Committee has just passed Comm. Sub. for SB-420 which, as amended, will increase the tax on cigarettes by $1 to $1.55 per pack. Unchanged from Governor Tomblin’s original proposal was the rate increase on other tobacco products from 7% of wholesale price to 12% of wholesale price and the new tax of 7.5 cents/milliliter on e-cigarette “juice”.

This legislation now moves to the full Senate. If approved there it will move to the House of Delegates for consideration.
